I've been doing 2.5 mile runs twice a week since my last update, following the route shown above. Some of the runs have not been continuous, as I had to stop for water once or twice. The main issue I've been having is recovery time. I was planning to run three times a week, but find that after running on a Sunday, I am in no condition to run again on Tuesday, so I've been running on a Sunday/Wednesday cycle. I've done research on reducing my recovery time and added some articles to my 20% board on Pinterest. I increased my carbohydrate intake to provide energy for running, but that came at the expense of my protein intake; these articles say that protein is necessary for recovery, so I'll have to work to find a dietary balance between carbohydrates and proteins that provides enough energy to run and allows the muscles to recover fast enough to run again. I will also try changing into warm, dry clothes immediately after a run (finally, a use for sweatpants).
I've finally built a playlist to keep me running on a steady pace. I utilized an application which automatically calculates the BPM of songs in a folder, and supplemented it with a website that allows me to check the BPM manually. Using this information, I created an hour-long playlist of songs matching the 82-86 BPM pace I am comfortable running at, and will test it out on my run tonight.
My issue with storing my phone and keys when running has been resolved effectively, but unconventionally.
My new shoes arrived; after breaking them in with normal daily wear for a few days, I've started using them while running, and have noticed that my feet don't hurt nearly as much after a run as they did in my old shoes.
